Super Bowl XIBy Wikipedia
Super Bowl
XI took place on January 9, 1977 in Pasadena, California. It is the
earliest in the calendar year that a Super Bowl has ever taken place.
The game marked the second Super Bowl appearance for the Oakland
Raiders, who lost Super Bowl II. For the Vikings, this was their
fourth Super Bowl in eight years. They had previously lost Super Bowls IV,
VIII and IX.
Even though he did not score a touchdown, Raiders receiver Fred
Biletnikoff, who had 4 catches for 79 yards, was named the Super Bowl's Most
Valuable Player.
The game was televised by NBC with Curt Gowdy & Don Meredith
serving as the commentators.
